 I have just bought a really interesting boucle yarn that is from France called Megreve. It is mohair, wool, acrylic and has a fine strand of Lycra that causes the boucle to curl even more. It is a very light weight yarn so unless you like working with fine yarn I would suggest that you use it double strand.
This yarn makes great hats, mitts, scarves, vests, sweater and think it would make yummy warm socks or slippers and it felts really well.
